Hands Together for a Cleaner Tomorrow

Turning Everyday Actions into Lasting Environmental Impact

On 25th April 2025, the Green Society of India (GSI), in collaboration with Concentrix, organized a Plastic Collection Drive at Udyog Vihar, Gurugram. This initiative brought together Concentrix employees, GSI volunteers, and the local community in a united stand against plastic pollution — showing how small, collective actions can lead to big environmental change.

What started as a simple waste collection activity transformed into a movement — inspiring participants to rethink habits, embrace sustainability, and take responsibility for our shared environment.

Why Plastic Pollution Matters

Plastic is everywhere — cheap, lightweight, and durable — but these same qualities make it one of the biggest threats to our planet.

  • 8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans every year — equal to one garbage truck per minute.
  • Over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals die annually from plastic ingestion and entanglement.
  • Microplastics — tiny fragments less than 5mm — are now found in our food, water, and even the air we breathe. They are linked to hormonal imbalance, respiratory diseases, and cancer.
  • Toxic chemicals like BPA and phthalates leach into soil and water, polluting food chains and damaging entire ecosystems.
  • Plastic production alone contributes 400 million tons of CO₂ annually, fueling the climate crisis.

The urgency is clear: plastic isn’t just litter — it’s a health, climate, and biodiversity emergency.

A Collective Step Towards Sustainability

During the drive, Concentrix employees collected discarded plastic bottles, wrappers, containers, and packaging materials from outside the office premises. All collected waste was handed over to certified recyclers to ensure proper disposal and reuse.

But this wasn’t just about cleaning up — it was about educating, inspiring, and empowering.

  • GSI volunteers shared insights on plastic’s harmful effects.
  • Participants learned practical tips on reducing plastic usage in daily life.
  • Together, we created awareness that leads to lasting change.

“This wasn’t just about gathering waste. It was about teaching and empowering people to be part of the solution,”

Empowering Change at the Workplace

This initiative also showed that corporations play a critical role in building a sustainable future. By encouraging employees to take part in eco-friendly activities, Concentrix set an example of environmental leadership.

“This drive turned into more than just an event — it was an experience. Seeing the impact we made together was incredibly motivating,”
Concentrix Participant

A single workplace event sparked conversations, commitments, and community action — proving that sustainability begins with awareness.

Looking Ahead — Building a Greener Future

The Plastic Collection Drive was only the beginning. At Green Society of India, we are committed to expanding these efforts by:

  • Organizing plastic-free campaigns in schools, colleges, and residential communities
  • Promoting sustainable corporate practices
  • Encouraging citizens to reduce single-use plastics and adopt eco-friendly alternatives

Together, we can create a circular economy where waste becomes a resource and sustainability becomes a way of life.

A Call to Action

Every action counts — whether it’s refusing single-use plastic, carrying a cloth bag, segregating waste, or joining clean-up drives.

Let’s act today for a cleaner tomorrow.
Because when we come together, we don’t just collect waste — we create change.
