Hon’ble Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Delhi Environmental Minister, Invited by Green Society of India as Chief Guest for World Environment Expo (WEE 2025)

On March 5, 2025, we had the privilege of meeting the Honorable Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Delhi’s Environmental Minister, to extend an official invitation for him to attend as the Chief Guest at the prestigious World Environment Expo (WEE) 2025.

Initiatives Discussed with Minister Sirsa: Greenathon, Green Utsav, Tree Plantation Drive, Cleaning Drive, and Free Medical Health Checkup Camps

During our meeting with Minister Sirsa, we had the opportunity to propose a range of initiatives that align with his vision for a cleaner and greener Delhi and India. The Green Society of India presented the following initiatives, all of which were met with enthusiasm and support by Minister Sirsa:

Greenathon

Greenathon, a proposed marathon event, will encourage individuals and communities to actively participate in raising awareness about environmental conservation. This marathon will not only promote eco-friendly practices but also inspire participants to take tangible steps toward sustainable living. Minister Sirsa’s support and leadership in this event will help generate excitement, ensuring maximum engagement from participants across the region.

Green Utsav

The Green Utsav festival, proposed by the Green Society of India, will be a vibrant celebration of sustainable living. The festival will feature exhibitions, workshops, Nukkad natak, and interactive sessions focused on creating a greener Delhi and promoting environmental protection. This initiative aims to bring together citizens, businesses, and environmental organizations to advocate for and celebrate eco-friendly living practices. Minister Sirsa’s involvement will further elevate the importance of these activities and mobilize larger community participation.

Tree Plantation Drive

A key initiative of the Green Society of India, the tree plantation drive aims to plant one million indigenous trees across Delhi and other regions over the next three years. This initiative will help restore ecological balance, mitigate climate change, and create a healthier environment. Each tree planted will receive three years of dedicated care to ensure proper growth and survival. Minister Sirsa’s support is pivotal in promoting this initiative and encouraging broader community engagement in restoring urban green spaces.

Cleaning Drives

To complement the tree plantation drive, we also discussed organizing cleaning drives across various communities in Delhi. These drives will focus on keeping public spaces clean and litter-free while promoting awareness about the importance of waste management and eco-friendly practices.

Free Medical Health Checkup Camps

In addition to environmental initiatives, the Green Society of India envisions organizing free medical health checkup camps in local communities. These camps will focus on preventive healthcare and provide access to basic health services for underprivileged populations. By combining environmental action with health initiatives, these camps will contribute to overall public well-being and promote a healthier, more sustainable community.

A Platform for Collaboration and Leadership

The invitation extended to Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa as Chief Guest for WEE 2025 highlights his pivotal role in championing environmental initiatives in Delhi and across India. The discussions on Greenathon, Green Utsav,  Tree plantation drive, cleaning drives, and free medical health checkup camps reinforced the need for active involvement from leaders like Minister Sirsa in driving meaningful change. His leadership and support will be instrumental in elevating these events, creating a greater impact, and mobilizing widespread participation.

Green Society of India is excited about these initiatives and looks forward to Minister Sirsa’s leadership in ensuring their success. His involvement will not only inspire further action but also demonstrate the importance of government leadership in driving large-scale environmental and health transformations.
