“To Get Green, We Need More Blue”
Because Every Drop of Water Shapes the Future
Across North India, relentless heatwaves have made daily life harsher than ever. Nights bring little relief, taps run dry, handpumps fail, and children often walk long distances just to collect a few liters of water.
At Green Society of India, we know that water scarcity is not just a seasonal problem—it is a growing crisis. In collaboration with Sopra Steria, we launched a Rainwater Harvesting Project at Adarsh Higher Secondary School, Piyawali and Savitri Bai Phule Inter College, turning students into champions of water conservation and climate resilience.

A Classroom Like No Other
Water conservation became more than a lesson—it became a hands-on experience. Students engaged in workshops, conducted water audits, and learned to see rain as a resource rather than just weather.
“I used to think rain just made us wet,” said Aarav, a Class 8 student from Piyawali. “Now I see it as a way to keep our taps running all year.”
When the First Rain Fell
The first pre-monsoon showers brought immediate results. Recharge pits filled, school taps flowed longer than ever, and students witnessed the power of small, local actions. In a time of extreme heat, this simple success became a symbol of resilience and hope.

The Impact So Far
- 1.5 lakh liters of rainwater recharged annually
- 1,500+ students now have reliable water access
- Reduced water stress, better hygiene, and improved school attendance
- Greater awareness among students about local climate solutions
Inspiring Communities
The project goes beyond school walls. Families and local communities are now adopting water-saving practices, proving that real change begins at the grassroots.
These schools stand as models for how thoughtful, practical initiatives can nurture hope, build resilience, and encourage sustainable living for the next generation.
