A Defining Step Toward a Greener Future

Green Society of India Engages with Delhi & Uttar Pradesh Leadership for WEE 2025

The world is running out of time. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, worsening air quality, and depleting natural resources are no longer distant threats—they are realities we face every day.

In India alone, millions are already affected by heatwaves, floods, droughts, and pollution-related illnesses. Without immediate and collective action, the damage to our ecosystems, health, and future generations will be irreversible.

The Green Society of India (GSI) is taking bold steps to address this crisis. As part of its commitment to driving large-scale environmental transformation, GSI has officially invited Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to participate in the World Environment Expo (WEE) 2025.

This isn’t just an event. It’s a call to action—a platform where leaders, innovators, and communities unite to address the escalating climate emergency and commit to sustainable solutions.

A Collective Vision for Change

In follow-up meetings with the Chief Ministers, GSI presented a roadmap for sustainable urban development, climate adaptation, and environmental protection. These conversations mark a critical moment in shaping Delhi and Uttar Pradesh’s role in India’s green transformation.

The focus was clear: reduce emissions, restore ecosystems, and empower communities through collaborative policies and grassroots actions.

Key Sustainability Initiatives Discussed

Greenothon: A Mass Movement for Nature

A citizen-led campaign encouraging tree plantations, clean-up drives, and awareness events—mobilizing thousands to take responsibility for protecting local ecosystems.

Cyclothon: Redefining Urban Mobility

Promoting cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transport. The initiative aims to cut down fossil fuel dependency, improve air quality, and build safer cycling infrastructure across both states.

Greenotsav: Celebrating Sustainability

An annual green festival blending education and entertainment, featuring workshops, exhibitions, performances, and eco-friendly competitions to make sustainability part of everyday culture.

E-Waste Management & Circular Economy

With India generating 3.2 million metric tonnes of e-waste annually, safe disposal and recycling are critical. GSI proposed state-supported e-waste collection centers, awareness drives, and strict regulations to combat this growing crisis.

Why This Matters — Now More Than Ever

Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are at the frontline of India’s environmental crisis:

  • Rising air pollution levels rank among the world’s highest.
  • Extreme heatwaves are becoming longer and deadlier each year.
  • Water scarcity threatens millions of urban and rural lives.
  • E-waste and plastic pollution are growing at an alarming pace.

Without urgent interventions, the impacts will be catastrophic. This is not just about protecting trees or reducing emissions—it’s about safeguarding our health, our economy, and our collective future.

A Call to Action

“A greener future is not a distant dream—it’s an urgent necessity. Together, with strong leadership and collective action, we can turn vision into reality.”
— Green Society of India

The World Environment Expo (WEE) 2025 will be a turning point—a platform where policy meets purpose, innovation meets impact, and citizens meet responsibility.

This is our chance to stand united for the planet. Every conversation, every sapling, and every policy counts.
